Today was another one of those days.
Not only have they taken the lunches from the technicians from the back, apparently now we aren’t allowed to take ours, either. I tried to leave on time to get back and let the other receptionist get back in time for appointments resuming at 2. While I was gone there were still a few rooms that needed to be taken care of. This is normal. We are a busy clinic, but it has long been established that around the lunch hour our staff is lighter since we are taking our lunches. I mean, this is normal right? Every job I’ve ever had never made me feel that I was somehow being disloyal by not being there through lunch.
But I have not even come back from lunch and the boss is telling me to go and take care of a room. When I told him that I was still on lunch, he shot me a look that made me stop in my tracks and ask him ” Is everything ok?”
It has already been an issue that the technicians don’t get their lunches. On a regular day, if they clock out for half an hour out of a twelve hour workday, that is considered excessive. It has become standard to not follow labor regulations.
And they wonder why there is so much stress and resentment among the staff.
